There Is Always Room for Improvement

I’m looking at all our online things and I am gripped with the desire to just scrap it all and start over. I will at some point. Not today, but eventually. There are a lot of parts that I want to clarify.

THE CHARITY

I want to figure out how to make the charity part of the vision an ACTION instead of just a nebulous idea and thought. Once I have that in place then emunaendeavor.org will be more of a place to learn how to be a part of the global movement.

We are personally starting our championship of tolerance of differences by volunteering for the very first ever Gay Pride Festival here in Astoria, Oregon.  This particular part of American diversity is a hot button for a lot of people and that is all the more reason for us to stand for this cause.

I get that a lot of Judeo-Christian religious people (especially fundamentalists) feel that LGBTQIA are all people living against the rules (maybe minus the “I” since intersex is something that is a physical aspect of a human as opposed to being considered a “lifestyle”). I personally was taught to “love the sinner, hate the sin” and “judge not lest ye be judged” PLUS as a Black American I feel like marginalized groups need to be free from being oppressed in any way.

The dream bubble for me is to have people around the world who contribute content to a web series about things like “What does the phrase ‘be the change’ mean to you?” and “What ways do you pay it forward?” and “How do you think world peace can be achieved?” and things like that. Like having booths at Farmers’ Markets and Craft Fairs etc. LOTS OF THINGS about tolerance of differences and in general being and doing good in the world.

For now, the charity is kind of on the back burner as we navigate just making it from day to day and try various crowd funding methods to get things started. Wish us luck in this charity thing! For real.

THE YOUTUBE CHANNEL(S)

For now this whole YouTube thing has been trial and error and basically a work in progress learning as we go. What I would like to get to is where I feel more comfortable with the video editing software and/or get better programs. I also want to be more organized with how we do our different themes. Like doing episodes of “Boating on a Budget” or “Charity Endeavor” or “Sailing Days” or “Life on Land” or “Inland Excursions” for example. For now we just have a hodgepodge of random things over the past few years that I have managed to get on video.

Eventually we want to do longer videos of 7-10 minutes of footage. Those will only be once a week at the most or once a month at the least. Currently I only have the energy and attention span to do videos that are 5 minutes or less, but if we get more in the habit of filming EVERYTHING we do instead of just doing things and forgetting to video half the time, I will hopefully also get better at the editing and posting thing.

I’m also considering dividing the themes up into separate channels when we have enough content to do so. Sort of like how BuzzFeed Video has about a JILLION different channels. We won’t have nearly that many. (I hope not anyway!) I’m thinking it would be like how our playlists are divided. Instead of a bunch of playlists on one channel, it would be a few different channel. That is after we get MUCH more proficient in posting and have a lot more subscribers.

(Speaking of subscribers… We need 100 to change our URL from this:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqwGBmq4ZZckAcS-s3JSl7A to something more cool looking like svemuna or something like that. Check it out and if you like us, please subscribe! ^_^)

THIS BLOG

I keep rethinking the way I want this blog to look and feel. My goal is to streamline the categories and tags to a more manageable amount so that finding a particular type of post will be easier. This will be mostly for MY convenience, but I know it will help ANY visitor as well.

I am seriously considering deleting all the old posts and a lot of the images related to them. The images are taking up a lot of space on my free account and most of the posts don’t get read after the post date anyway.  We’ll see.

Beyond the above, being more consistent in what and when I post feels like an important goal. Working on it!

THIS WEBSITE

I am in a constant state of flux about how this website looks. I like everything about the current free theme except the layout of the blog page. It’s OK. I just prefer the format where the entries are in an infinite scroll. I get that a lot of people when looking at a website for the first time (especially if they don’t know the authors personally) do not have the patience to slog through all those posts and having it in picture format is much more visually pleasing. I guess I am just a reader at heart.

I also want to fix the top menu. I’m not sure how yet but once I figure it out, it will definitely be fixed. I want it to be clear and concise and easy to use. I think it a bit clunky at the moment but maybe that is just me.

THE MAIN THING

On ALL the online forums (other than the newest YouTube channel) I am seriously considering scrapping everything and doing a HUGE relaunch January 2017. I think I will start working on it in earnest after the sailing season is over.

WHAT’S YOUR STORY?

Are YOU working on anything that has you a bit stressed? Have you completed a huge project? What are/were you doing to handle it? Please share in the comments!

As always, THANKS FOR READING! ^_^
